GAPS NOTAM!

Currently one third of runway lights are affected by the breakage of the wire resultying from the sink hole. The rest of the lights do work. The radio control for the runway lights is operational. 7 Clicks on, 6 clicks off with a 15 minute timer. Dusk to dawn photo sensor has been replaced.

Brent Hall, Gordonsville Airport manager, has filled in the sink hole by the side of the runway. The sink hole occurred as a result of an aging drain system that has failed.  The construction of a new drain system will continue in September/October of 2008 when funding becomes available through the state and federal government.

The wires to the runway lights were affected by the sink hole and will be repaired temporarily as soon as possible.

Please check back to this website for notice when lights are fixed.

B;iebird Aerodrome Hangar mission statement: We are dedicated to supporting and preserving the grass-roots general aviation community at GVE.

Gordonsville Municipal Airport is a place everyone actively participates in aviation's future history.  GVE(Gordonsville Airport) fills in the GAP between the past and the future of aviation. It is where restoration meets creation. It is where the past meets the future. Vintage aircraft fly with LSA (Light Sport Aircraft).

GAPS!

Gordonsville Municipal Airport is a place everyone can actively participate historically in the future of aviation.  The Gordonsville GAPs (Gordonsville Airport Preservation Society) work together in the tradition of maintaining a general aviation airport.  We are actively engaged with the general public to create an inviting atmosphere conducive to airports of the past. Our community works on the runway, fixes such items as the bathroom fixures, re-conditioning tie-downs, keeping grass cut and having a place where hangar *tales/tails abound.

Many people have and are continuing to aid in the preservation of Gordonsville Municipal Airport. We would especially like to thank our new GAP members for their on-going donations of hard labor, items needed, and much appreciated kinship. The following are some members who have gone beyond expectations in their contributions.

Special thanks to Dennis Horton this week. He sent 2 mowers and crew on a Saturday morning to mow the entire airport in one fell swoop! Bravo Mr. Horton and thank you very much! The mowed grass reflects the positive effects a community of supporters can make when they are willing to contribute individual resources.
